Henry Florence Laage is the earliest member of one of the Laage families in the US. For a long time they searched for this person at a places in Germany in vain. Now a recent publication on emigrants from Hopsten in Westphalia lists a Heinrich Florence Dierks, called Laage, born in the correct year. In that regions it was quite common to name person after the farm they work on. So he was well known as Heinrich Florence Laage and when he emmigrated to the US he obviously told that name and a new Laage family was born.
