The Laage family archive

I dedicate these pages to Georg Laage, the first genealogist on the Laage family.
Without his tremendous work not much was known about our family history.

In about 1923 - Georg Laage (APR 8th 1902 - OCT 13th 1994) started to document his immediate family.

      - but soon he extended his research, supported by the interest of the people he contacted.

1950s-1970s - valuable contributions by other researchers
An early documentation on the danish Laage families is included.
Norbert Laage - worked on the Mecklenburg branch

1971 - Georg Laage published the first booklet with the titel "Stammfolge Laage" (Laage descendancy). He described 8 Generations of the Laage families starting with Jochim Laage (*1705).

1973 - The second booklet with the titel "Jochim Laage und seine Söhne" (Jochim Laage and his sons) is published. The author tells the CVs of the persons of the first two Laage generations. An important, not to say neccessary supplement to the first booklet. It contains a lot of explanations - instructive and entertaining.
The content is part of the web site now, see "Jochim Laage and his sons"

- many many letters were written from and to 'America'. Mainly with the family in Mississippy but also to Brooten in Minnesota.
- He tries to keep the archive on a current stand.
Connection to Hein Laage in Johannesburg. Georg travels to South Africa.

1994 - Georg Laage passed away aged 92. The archive was passed through several hands to finally landed at Andreas Laage in Bietigheim-Bissingen.
